Performances of Note: 1/10

After a day chock-full of great games and big-time performances on Friday, Saturday the tenth had a lot to live up to. One wonderful thing about Indiana basketball, however, is that it never disappoints. Here is a very quick glance at some of the games that the top teams had players had yesterday.

* Blake Beasley had 19 points as Decatur Central beat Martinsville.

* Ben Davis got their first win of the year behind 16 points from IUPUI-bound guard Greg Rice.

* The Rockets of Broad Ripple High got a big win over Westfield in front of Purdue head coach Matt Painter. Steven Jamison and Howard Stevenson each scored 18 points, while freshman Ron Patterson chipped in 14 of his own.

* Matt Lenz of Fishers had nine three-pointers on the way to 39 points!

* Valpo-bound point guard Matt Kenney had 33 points to lift Mooresville over Franklin.

* Zionsville won their seventh straight game, beating Guerin Catholic, behind 15 points from Chris Welker and 13 from Jack Isenbarger. Guerin got 24 points from Ryan Nowicki.

* Chris Page had 24 points and Brian Mucho added 17 as Plainfield beat Brownsburg for the Hendricks County title. Sophomore Torrey Nibbs led Brownsburg with 14 points, and Enique Mason had 13 points.

* Sophomore Kendall Griffin (pictured) helped lift Avon over Tri-West with 12 points.

* Danville junior Travis Carroll had 18 points as the Warriors slaughtered Cascade.

* Super-soph Jeremiah Davis of Muncie Central struggled to ten points on 2-9 shooting as the Bearcats fell to HSE. Ball State recruit Jauwan Scaife led Muncie Central with 22 points.

* Rontray Chavis had 21 points and Jalen Packer added 17 as Princeton stayed unbeaten with a win over Evansville Harrison. Kendal Brown had 30 for Harrison, but missed a tying three attempt at the end.

* Junior big man Donnie Hale had 25 points as New Albany stayed unbeaten, winning over Evansville Reitz.

Those are just a few of the best performances from yesterday. There are several more huge tilts to come this week, so stay tuned!
