Indiana All-Star Team for 2008-2009

As the season is heading towards March and post-season play, there has been much discussion on who the deserving candidates are to represent our great basketball state as a senior Indiana All-Star. It is one of the most coveted individual accolades a player from Indiana can have, second only to the Mr. Basketball award, and with it comes a lifetime of recognition and bragging rights as one of the best Indiana had to offer on a given year. Also, you get to beat the tar out of some Kentucky kids, which is always a nice, added bonus. Here is my list of some of the seniors who are most deserving of a shot to represent our state as an Indiana All-Star. Players are listed by position in alphabetical order, with height and high school.

Guards
Kendal Brown - 5'10" - Evansville Harrison
DJ Byrd - 6'4" - North Montgomery
Casey Coons - 5'10" - Franklin Central
Damon Ellison - 6'5" - North Central
Tommy Eggleston - 6'5" - Heritage Christian
Jordan Hulls - 6'0" - Bloomington South
George Jones - 6'2" - South Bend Clay
Justin Jordan - 5'10" - Ft. Wayne North Side
Matt Kenney - 6'2" - Mooresville
Tyler Koch - 6'4" - Winchester
Tommy Kurth - 6'0" - Penn
Jake Odum - 6'2" - Terre Haute South
Greg Rice - 5'11" - Ben Davis
Colt Ryan - 6'4" - Batesville
Jauwan Scaife - 6'2" - Muncie Central
Scott Wood - 6'6" - Marion

Forwards
Patrick Bade - 6'8" - Franklin Central
Kelsey Barlow - 6'6" - Cathedral
Blake Beasley - 6'5" - Decatur Central
Derek Elston - 6'9" - Tipton
Hayden Humes - 6'7" - Valparaiso
RJ Mahurin - 6'8" - Rockville
Jordan Myers - 6'8" - Forest Park
Morgan Newton - 6'5" - Carmel
Jonathan Nwannunu - 6'8" - Merrillville
Errick Peck - 6'6" - Cathedral
Justin Reid - 6'8" - North Central
Jeff Robinson - 6'9" - Lawrence North
Stephan Van Treese - 6'9" - Lawrence North

Centers
Blake Metcalf - 6'9" - Plainfield
Andrew Smith - 6'10" - Covenant Christian

Unfortunately, not all of these deserving kids will be able to represent Indiana as a senior All-Star, but this list should comprise the core of who will be on the squad. Anyone missing that you think should be on the list? Post a message and let me know if I missed a senior who is worth of the title of Indiana All-Star!

I think Blake Beasley from Decatur Central should at least be mentioned. He has been playing well all year and has Decatur sitting pretty right now at 11-2 heading into Saturday's game.

WOW! A place that has FC's Casey Coons listed as an All-Star nominee. He has been flying under the radar for so long. Flashes fans have enjoyed watching Casey for 3 years, and I'm glad to see him get some much deserved recognition.
