Two freshmen of note for local fans are Carmel's 6'10 man-child AJ Hammons and 6'8 Wichita Heights (KS) forward Perry Ellis. Hammons is, as of right now, a strictly local recruit who has not yet burst onto the national scene. However, with his frame and upside, he very well could be a big-time Indy area post when all is said and done. A Big Ten school recently checked him out in his game against Ben Davis. Ellis is already a national name, garnering accolades and scholarship offers from schools like IU, Kansas, and Memphis already as a ninth grader.
