Save the Wigwam!

One of the more disturbing occurrences taking place in the current time for all who love Indiana high school hoops has to be the potential closing of the famed "Wigwam," the home of the Anderson High School Indians. As the second largest high school gymnasium in the state, and the world, behind New Castle Chrysler Fieldhouse, the Wigwam holds a special place in the hearts of all true basketball fans in the Hoosier state. Unfortunately, the cost of keeping such a huge place running is taking a toll on the school and local economy, and the idea of shutting it down for good is being bantered about. In my humble opinion, the Wigwam is a Midwestern treasure, and closing it down would be a sad, sad thing for the state's identity. There has to be another way to make ends meet while keeping this famed gymnasium up and running. However, as we all know, there are no guarantees, so I advise everyone, myself included, to get out there and see one potentially last game at the Wigwam. Anderson's remaining home games are tonight against Kokomo, the 17th against Huntington North, the 20th against New Castle, and the 26th against Bishop Chatard. Save the Wigwam!

Closing the Wigwam would be a great loss to our community. Creative options to keep it open should be explored. This facility is nationally recognized and is such a positive for our city.
