Update on Games: 2/10

Updating a few games from last night, including a result from Monday night. A few ranked teams were in action, and some tough Indy-area teams went at it on the first night of Girls Sectionals. Let's take a look at a few scores.

Hamilton Southeastern 71 - Lawrence Central 48 - What started off as a nip-and-tuck affair turned into a blowout early in the second quarter. The Royals (10-6) led by only three points after the first, but a 25-14 second frame gave them a 14-point lead heading into half, which they never relinquished. Forward Charlie Duffy led Southeastern with 15 points and ten rebounds, while Gary Harris contributed 14 points. Both players had a pair of threes. Jeremy Comer led the Bears (6-8) with ten points, and leading scorer Marcus Jackson was limited to five.

Anderson 71 - Kokomo 64 (OT) - An extra five minutes was needed to decide this one as it was all knotted up at the end of regulation. The raucous home crowd at the famed Wigwam may have had a hand in the final result as the Indians (12-3) were able to overcome the WildKats (10-7) in overtime. Troy Taylor had a monster game for Anderson, scoring 30 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Anderson, at 3-1, is just one game back of Muncie Central and Marion for the lead in the North Central Conference with three conference games left to play. Kokomo may be out of the race at 2-3 in conference play.

Howe 93 - Indiana Deaf 52 - The Hornets (10-5) got back in the win column with some hot outside shooting. Forward Kenny Enoch led Howe with 20 points, including four treys, and guard Andre Hampton scored 17 points on five threes. Six-nine junior wing Jordan Manuel added eleven in the win. The Deaf Hoosiers got twenty points from Gabriel Paulone in the losing effort.

Tipton 76 - Sheridan 38 (LATE MONDAY SCORE) - Despite sitting most of the fourth quarter due to the big lead, 6'9 senior forward Derek Elston, and IU recruit and a contender for Mr. Basketball, still had an outstanding game of 16 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. Seven-foot junior Ethan Jacobs, who has been playing well as of late in his role off the bench, scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Tipton will get a big test on Thursday as they play the ninth-ranked team in 2A, Carroll-Flora, who is 13-1 on the season.

There a plenty more great games this week despite the start of Girls Sectionals. Check back to see what other top teams are tipping off this week!
