Player Update: Tommy Eggleston

P-Hoops was on the road this past Friday to see one of the hottest players in the Indianapolis area, Heriatage Christian's 6'5 senior guard Tommy Eggleston, the leader of the 2A number four ranked Eagles. Heritage is off to a great start at 11-2 and they are fresh off a come-from-behind 62-59 win over Guerin Catholic. Through thirteen games, he is averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game on 48% shooting and 40% from three point range. However, his play as of late has shown what potential this player really has. In the last four games, Eggleston has had three 20-plus point performances, with a high game of 29 points against Manual in the first round of the city tournament. In that same span, he also had two games with five three pointers, proving his accuracy from deep. But Eggleston is far from a standstill shooter, which is what is currently drawing heavy late interest from several mid and low major schools looking for a hidden gem in the spring signing period. With his length and great lateral quickness, Eggleston has the ability to be a lock-down defender at any level, especially if he adds strength in the off-season and in college. He is a tremendous slashing scorer on top of being a deep threat, as shown by his seven two point buckets against Guerin, which mostly came of drives and finishes at the rim. With his recent play, including his 21 point game I saw against Guerin, it's easy to see why schools like IUPUI, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Willam and Mary, and other D1 schools are checking in on Eggleston. Stay tuned to see how Eggleston's season and recruitment turn out. Included below is a link to an article from the IndyStar on Eggleston's game-winning performance in the Indianapolis City Tournament against Northwest. Read on for more!
