On the heels of injuring his knee in North Montgomery's recent game against Carmel, the Chargers star 6'4 shooting guard DJ Byrd, a Purdue recruit, went under the knife on Thursday morning to repair a partially torn meniscus. The good news? The original timetable for his recovery may be shorter than first expected, giving the scoring machine a chance, albeit a remote one, to play in Sectionals next week, where the Chargers have a bye and will play the winner of the Danville-Crawfordsville game. Here is link to a Lafayette newspaper with quotes from the doctor who performed the surgery.
