Saturday's Top Performers

There were several big games on Saturday. Many top ranked teams were in action, and some kids had career nights, including a freshman of interest to both Purdue and IU fans. Let's take a quick look at some of the best performances of the final day of an exciting January!



* North Central freshman D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera had a career high 27 points in a 95-71 win over Warren Central. Junior Boiler recruit Terone Johnson had 21. Each of them had three treys apiece.


* Arlington squeaked out a win over Guerin Catholic on a three by Steve Malone, who had 21 points. Golden Knight Phillip Freeman added 19. Guerin was led by Ryan Nowicki and Michael McMahon who had 15 each. Guerin lost two games this weekend by a total of five points.


* Morgan Newton had 25 ponts and nine boards as Carmel beat Ben Davis. The Giants got 14 points from IUPUI signee Greg Rice.


* Cathedral beat Perry Meridian behind 18 points from Errick Peck and16 points from Purdue signee Kelsey Barlow.


* Casey Coons scored 18 points and Purdue recruit Patrick Bade added 14 of his own as Franklin Central beat Seymour.


* Lawrence North junior Dominique Ferguson (pictured)had 27 points in a win over Center Grove. Stephan Van Treese and Ryan Taylor added 14 each.

* Lebanon freshman Trey Hendrix had another nice game in a loss to Westfield, scoring 20 points.
