Game Previews: Friday, December 16th

Some really interesting match ups to get excited about for this Friday night. Here are a few previews to get you ready for the big weekend of Indiana high school hoops action!

Zionsville (5-0) vs. Hamilton Southeastern (4-0)

The Eagles are flying high at 5-0, but their schedule has been somewhat soft, especially since their impressive season opening win over Brebeuf. Can Zionsville play with the big dogs? They'll get their chance to prove they're for real on the road against the #1 team in the 4A class, Hamilton Southeastern. The Royals boast the three-headed monster attack of Gary Harris, Zakarie Irvin, and Jaccobby Bledsoe, a trio that has been overwhelming for all takers on this season. If HSE wins handily again, there will be no arguing their deserving a top ranking.

Lawrence Central (3-1) at Bloomington South (4-0)

The Bears suffered a tough loss at Pike last week, but the Red Devils are no slouch. Can they rebound on the road against a perennial 4A favorite? IU commit Jeremy Hollowell will bring his 23-plus point per game average to his future home of Bloomington in hopes of knocking the Panthers from the ranks of the unbeatens. South has gotten great play from sophomore duo Keaton Hendricks and Isaiah Gooch. Coach JR Holmes will have his 4A #4 ranked team ready when the 4A #8 ranked Bears come to town. Should be a great game.

Roncalli (4-0) vs. Brebeuf Jesuit (3-1)

Two of the best parochial schools in Indianapolis square off in this tilt. The Rebels, ranked #16 in the 4A class, are led by a pair of 6'7 senior forwards, Ryan Weber and David Heckman. With impressive wins over Park Tudor and LCC, they are obviously a tough out. Brebeuf counter their size with great guard play, specifically sophomore point guard PJ Thompson. Michael Kroot and Michael Lenz are also solid guards for the Braves. Which strength will win out, guards or bigs?

New Castle (5-0) vs. Muncie Central (4-0)

The Trojans are fresh off a dominating 84-49 statement win against Wapahani. Led by Steven Bennett and Jordan Richardson, New Castle has the look of a quality 4A team. But much like Zionsville, their schedule has been suspect in strength as of yet. Well no more. The 3A #1 ranked Bearcats will host the Trojans in this NCC rivalry game. The Bearcats rely heavily on one of the best big men in the state in 6'8 Loyola (IL) recruit Nick Osborne. New Castle will be challenged to respond on the road against the best team they have faced so far.
