Derek Elston Update

One of the top players in the state and a clear Mr. Basketball candidate is Tipton's 6'9 forward Derek Elston, an IU signee. Elston is currently averaging right at 20 points per game to go along with nearly 11 rebounds and three assists. He also averages over two steals and blocks per game. Elston and the Blue Devils are the number one ranked team in 2A, but they compete in one of the top Sectionals in the state, Sectional 40, which features teams such as Oak Hill (17-3) and high-scoring Guerin Catholic (14-7). If they are fortunate enough to advance out of Sectional play, their Regional will likely feature other top ranked 2A squads like North Miami and Bishop Luers, last year's State Champion.
