Another Marquis Teague Update

Pike sophomore point guard Marquis Teague is regarded as a national top-25 player for the 2011 class and has been a big name on the recruiting scene since early on in his freshman year. Part of the early attention may have been due to the play of his older brother and Wake Forest star Jeff Teague. The younger brother, however, has more than lived up to the hype, earning scholarship offers from schools locally and all across the country. Recently, the talk surrounding Teague is that he was a "lock" for Louisville, headed to play for Rick Pitino along with the crew of studs from Lawrence North, which includes Stephan Van Treese and Justin Martin. The local Big Ten schools have not thrown in the towel, however. Purdue head coach Matt Painter was recently seen scouting Teague during Pike's Sectional semifinal game against Decatur Central, and Teague has also been a visitor to the West Lafayette campus this season. Indiana head man Tom Crean has made Marquis even more of a priority in recent weeks, seeing him three times personally, and sending staff members to see him at other times. First, after Crean was at a Pike practice, Teague came to Senior Night to watch the Hoosiers battle Michigan State, and it was reported that Crean actually spoke to Teague during the game, and then afterwards for up to an hour. On the heels of that, Crean was in attendance for Marquis' Sectional quarterfinal game against Brownsburg, where the sophomore made the winning assist on a buzzer-beating lay-in. After that, IU assistant Bennie Seltzer was in attendance for the Decatur Central game, alongside Painter and other college coaches. Finally, it was reported that Crean was once again at Pike High School yesterday, as Pike knocked off Ben Davis, 73-54, to move on to Regionals, where they will face future-Boiler Patrick Bade and Franklin Central. Teague had 19 points, including 17 after the first quarter, in the Sectional Championship game. That marks the fifth time in thirteen days that either Crean himself or a member of his staff have been to see this sensational sophomore. Check back periodically to see where Teague, who claims he will make a college decision shortly after the high school season, ends up!

I don't want Teague and his technicals at IU.

Why wouldn't you want Teague at IU, I'll take him in a heart beat. He is the real deal and is going to be a great player in college. Just because he got technical fouls means you don't want him? Kevin Garnett gets tons of technicals but I bet you'd take him. I hope Teague comes to Indiana and proves all the naysayers wrong.

Can anyone confirm that he's a Louieville "lock".
