Weekend Update for Top Players/Recruits

Saturday was a busy day in the state for many top players and players of IU recruiting interest. Here is a quick snapshot of some of the top performances of the weekend.

Kendall Griffin- The super-soph from Avon went off for 30 points, including six three pointers in an exciting 73-71 win over Pike.

Marquis Teague- In the same game, Teague, also a sophomore, had 26 points, mostly on drives and pull up jumpers, but also had a pair of threes.

Ronald Patterson- The promising freshman prospect out of Broad Ripple had another monster game, going for 20 points in a closely contested 65-63 loss to Cathedral.

AJ Hammons- The 6'10" freshman center from Carmel continues to develop early on in his high school career, putting up 12 points in a 93-51 blowout win over Tech. Morgan Newton, a Kentucky football signee, had 15 points, playing a nice all-around game.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera- The highly touted, prized freshman from North Central had his highest scoring output to date, going for 20 against Lawrence Central in a 80-55 laugher. He is now averaging 16.7 points per game for the season. A night after pouring in 44 points, Terone Johnson quietly added 16 for the Panthers.

Patrick Bade- The Purdue signee went off for 30 points and 8 boards as Franklin Central defeated Columbus East 71-63 in overtime.

Travis Carroll- Another Purdue prospect, the 6'9" center had 29 points in a 59-45 win over Monrovia.

Broad Ripple also has two guards that are flying way under the radar. Nate Reynolds(who is averaging about 18pts.) and Howard Stevenson(who averaging about 15, including a 28 point game vs. Muncie Central and hit a 3 against Cathedral to send it into overtime). These two have the skills to be d-1 players but have played limited summer games. These guys are the real deal. Check em out.

Thanks for the heads up. I will be seeing them soon. Broad Ripple is really coming into their own as an Indy B-ball power!
