Indyball Starts Tonight!

Most of the top AAU teams in the state tip off their summer season this weekend at the Indyball.com Tournament. Notable players include Cody Zeller, Marshall Plumlee, D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Marquis Teague, Ron Patterson (pictured), and many, many more. The games take place at North Central High School as well as the school system's middle schools. P-Hoops will be in attendance all weekend, watching and coaching. If you're in the area, try to come out and see some great hoops action, or check back this weekend for periodic updates on the play and who is standing out.

I saw D'Vauntes, and Patterson play. And D'Vauntes schooled Patterson he whole game.

so who won the tourney?
Who were the top performers?

D'Vauntes' team had waaaay more time to rest. Patterson's team had just 10-15 rest tops, after playing a good Eric Gordan team. Scheduling played a BIG part in that loss!!IMO

So predictable.....How did everyone in the building guess that would be your excuse? They did not have way more rest. You guys were playing @ the same time. You guys started and finished maybe 15 minutes later than they did. The problem is, with all the hype that you guys are trying to build up off DSR's name, trying to put this kid in the same class as D'Vauntes, you have awaken a sleeping GIANT unfortunately for.

Wow...It's getting pretty heated in here. P-hoops, are you going to update soon?

So predictable because its so true. DSR's team was watching their game at the beginning of the second half. And noone is "building hype off of DSR's name", they are just two of the best guards in the state. They both made second team(All City/All County), averaged the EXACT same amount of points(15.8), exact same assists per game(3), and are the same size. So why wouldnt people compare them? Didnt know it was so personal with the DSR crew! Good game, but this wont be the last one.

how did langkabel do against patterson

Who??? The african?

Predictable because it's typical of people that don't know how to win/lose gracefully, to make excuses for their losses..that's all. Not with the DSR "crew" by any means. I am however a fan that has watched him for many years. And I know he is an absolute beast. Not off his name? Who ever heard of Patterson until obviously his "crew" started screaming to anyone that would listen, that he was as good/better than DSR? Associate your name with a well known player, and it draws attention you. Hellooo! Last but not least, yes they have eerily similar stats. Major difference is that one actually won ball games and averaged those #s against a far better schedule/players. Go back and compare who they play, schedule strength, leadership, record at the end of the season, and then compare them.

Oh yeah, win gracefully by coming on a website talking about how DSR "schooled" Patterson! I was at the game and neither of the players gaurded each other the WHOLE GAME. DSR and Jeremy Hollowell was the match-up, in which Hollowell dropped 22 on DSR! and, I'm sorry that DSR has done it for sooo long and Patterson came out of "nowhere" and is garnering so much attention, but "thems is the breaks"! They also played almost the same teams this season(check it)and if i recall, Patterson dropped about 20 on DSR at Broad Ripple. But did the "Patterson crew" brag and beat their chest about that? NO. I've seen the two talk and interact like the classy young men they are. LEARN FROM THEM!!! I have. I'm done with this nonsense. Sorry P-Hoops.

I call it like I see it.I didn't notice Elite celebrating. I went over to congratulate D'Vauntes after the game. Told him not to pay any attention to the taunting that came from the stands. His response was he didn't hear it anyway. And went on to give Spiece credit for having a good team. I didn't hear the Rivera's or any of the other Elite parents badmouthing anyone. And as odd as it might sound I know for a fact that they clap and cheer on DSRs friends even when he is playing against them. I've heard them say several times that they don't want them to win, but they want them to do well. Now before the game I sat behind both teams. Ron said "I'm about to go smash these Africans and sh*t". They heard him say it. I found it really offensive. Ask him yourself. Have you heard the ignorance that comes out of your kids and PARENTS mouths? That's why I chose to write about it. And I said Ron specificly because of the statement he made. And all the bashing that his people directed towards DSR. I was right in front of them the whole time. And they have no sensor for what comes comes out of their mouths. That's why I said losing gracefully. Fact checker: Hollowell had 21. The game was lost by 20. As a whole the team has to do better with screens and things from what I saw. They'll learn I'm sure. Kelon also ended up with 14 and Patterson 11 after the game had been decided. DSR and Patterson did guard each other on and off. Patterson didn't have 20 during the season, the majority of the points he scored was after the game was decided by 20 or 30, and we were leaving to beat traffic. When I left, D'Vauntes was done for the day on the bench, they were up by atleast 25 and @ that point Patterson might have had 10. So I missed his highlight toward the end. But I heard bout it. I believe too that NC beat their common opponents, while BR lost to I believe all of them. They might have squeaked out one. To put this into perspective, if I were any of these guys I'd rather have 10 and a win, than 20 and an L. I'd even rather have 0 and an L, than 30, a win, but no class. But that's just what I was taught. And I'm done too

A GROWN UP said...

It's strange how you "heard" and seen all these negative things about Patterson, which are an outright lie, but the almighty DSR was squeaky clean and honorable! Give me a break! It's amazing when #1 gets challenged, how the his wolfpack will attack with so much hatred and try to degrade the challenger. Bashing a kid doin' well for himself by all means, how manly or womanly of you!! Grow up and let the kids live.

How do you know that it's a lie? He's not even home from school yet is he. Ask him if he said it. And if he's honest he'll tell you he did. That's not bashing him. I was sitting behind Spiece. And Ron's people were sitting diagnal from me. And like I said they have no sensor. Do you think I was the only one that heard it? Come on. If you can't own your behavior, don't behave that way. Never said DSR was an angel. I think everyone saw a little smack talk on the court. But that's where it should be. And even off the court as long as it's not mean spirited. I don't think he has a "wolfpack" (if he does I'm not in it). That is pretty funny though. I know what I observed and I know many others did too. And I don't know what game you were watching, but I didn't think they were challenged at all

BYE HATER!!! said...

Im not talking about challenged in the game, Im talking rankings and status. So its mean spirited to say he was going to kill those africans in a game of basketball??? PLEASE! Dont be scared, its enough room in this town for the both of them!! Bye Ms. Rivera.........

M. Dub said...

whats going to be real funny is if/when they pick the same college!! thats going to make your skin crawl and and face hurt!!! Good luck to both of them. dont listen to these grown folk tryin to drive a wedge between two great players. keep it 100 wit each other, yall are special.

Yes it was mean spirited because it was in a mocking manner. I'm not Ms. Rivera. I'm sure she can speak for herself. Good try though. And since we are guessing, who might you be? Mr/Mrs Patterson? Probably Coach Chris? Don't really care. I'm saying that the way you guys conduct yourselves his horrible. Take that how you want to. Status and ranking challenged? Are you kidding? I think he's pretty good in some ares... But there are a lot of good kids in Indy. Not just these two. Sorry to break it to you but Hollowell is obviously the most skilled player on the team. I don't get the whole college choice thing. I hope that both/all these kids stay in state. And if they went to the same school, why would that bother anyone?

Im Rubber, You're Glue said...

Never seen two dumber people, arguing over the dumbest thing. "Mine is better than yours" is soooo 1st grade. WHO CARES!! Get a job!!

Anonymous said...

I know coach Chris a little and have talked DSR with him a few times and he's been nothing but complimentary, thinks he's real good and never said a bad word about him. I think he thinks he's got a couple of guys with better upside but that's said in a way that is not dissing DSR. I look forward to seeing these two kids play each other a lot, but the younger kids in their class bear watching as well. Nobody in this conversation has earned any top dog status and won't until we see how Hammons turns out and Davis and Marrero for goodness sakes. Hopefully these kids all get along well and don't let this kind of thing affect how much they would want to play together (for IU of course...vbg)...

Peace you all, learn to love your neighbor's child as your own and it'll set you free. I know Coach Chris roots for most of these Indy kids even the ones compared against his own players.
