Butler fans can take some solace in the Bulldogs slow 3-3 start, including the 75-59 loss to the Indiana Hoosiers last night. Scoring has been the struggle for Butler so far in 2011-2012, but that dry spell may not last long. Pendleton Heights senior and Butler signee Kellen Dunham has that down to a science. In the Arabians first two games this season, Dunham has poured in 40 and 37 points, respectively. What is most impressive, however, is that Dunham is undoubtedly nearly the entirety of the opposing team's scouting report, especially since Pendleton Heights lost Kendall Waters, a D1 level recruit, to a transfer to Muncie Central. The fact that Dunham is performing at such an astounding level while being so focused upon is pretty dang impressive.
Tomorrow night, Pendleton Heights hosts coach Eric Rauch's Westfield squad who is looking for a win after falling to Kokomo 69-53 in their season opener. The Shamrocks will be given the task of trying to slow Dunham down, a task which both Alexandrian and Delta could not accomplish.
If Dunham is able to keep up this type of pace, expect to see Gary Harris, Yogi Ferrell and others to be peeking over their shoulders when it comes voting time for Mr. Basketball.
